Case Study 01 — Property Rental Platform
A growing property management company needed a platform to connect landlords with tenants across multiple cities. Their existing process was manual — listings on WhatsApp groups, payments via bank transfer, and no verification system. They were losing tenants to competitors with better digital experiences and had zero visibility into listing performance.
Why Existing Solutions Failed
A growing property management company needed a platform to connect landlords with tenants across multiple cities. Their existing process was manual — listings on WhatsApp groups, payments via bank transfer, and no verification system. They were losing tenants to competitors with better digital experiences and had zero visibility into listing performance.
How Ajentis Engineered It
We built a full-stack rental platform with a React Native mobile app for tenants and landlords, backed by a Node.js API and PostgreSQL database. Key decisions: real-time chat using WebSockets instead of polling (lower server costs at scale), Stripe Connect for split payments so the platform could take a commission without handling funds directly, and a custom verification flow using government ID APIs to build trust between parties.
Key Technical Architecture Highlights
React Native app with shared codebase — 92% code shared between iOS and Android
Node.js API with role-based access control (tenant, landlord, admin)
PostgreSQL with PostGIS for geospatial queries (search by radius, neighbourhood)
Stripe Connect for marketplace payments with automated landlord payouts
Redis-backed real-time messaging with offline message queue
Cloudinary for image optimization — property photos auto-compressed and served in WebP
Push notification pipeline via Firebase Cloud Messaging
Measurable Business Outcome
Launched to 3 cities within 4 months of kickoff. The platform onboarded 500+ verified listings in the first quarter. Tenant-to-landlord conversion rate was 34% (industry average: ~18%). The client secured seed funding partly on the strength of the platform's architecture and early traction.
“They didn't just build what we asked for — they challenged our assumptions and built something better. The architecture scales, the UX converts, and we launched on time.
